how technologies have changed our lifes

I have always been impressed by the what technologies especially in the 21st century as it has altered the way we live our lifes especially the way we communicate with each other. There are different types of products and services for example facebook, myspace, youtube, twitter just to name a few. there are many arguments today good and bad for example some will say that gaming, social networking sites and many other digital devices are bad for people especially young people,  however according to steven johnsons book everything bad is good for you it mentions how an individuals iq level can go high by the effects of gaming, computers and other digital devices.

Below is a short link of facebook history and how the founder Mark Zuckerberg went on to create a system that has changed the way we communicate with eachother, facebook  has made it easier for us not to only communicate but to post photos, videos and hundreds of other services that facebook users can use.

I recently bought an iphone and i was amazed as to how far technology has come compared to my first mobile phone in the 1990s the iphone 4 and many other phones are much more superior than the first mobile phones that were released.

Below is a link where you can see the different features the iphone 4 provides. and try to compare if you still have your old phone from just few years back to the iphone 4s features as this will definitely make you see as to how far digital technology has come and where it may be heading.

Youtube in my opinion is the most advanced  video search engine ever created and is by far the most entertaining. it also allows users to post their own videos

Twitter is a great source when it comes to information gathering one of the advanyages it provides to users is that whenever something happens in one part of the world twitter users can get access to the information within minutes.

Just a few years back i used to listen to my songs in the cassette player or on radio but now there are many advanced technologies that make listening to music more fun, the most popular is the ipod designed by the apple company.

the people who have fascinated me with their work in this area is professor Sonia Livingstone, most of her work has to do with how social networking sites and other digital media devices affect peoples lifes, according to one of her documents she mentions how many young people live in fear especially the fear of criticism and that the internet allows them to express themselves especially social networking sites.

http://www.intel.com/technology/mooreslaw/ states that Gordon Moores law predicted that the number of transistors that could fit on a computer chip would double in size every two years while at the same time increasing computer speed and capacity.

According to http://youthandmedia.org/projects/digital-natives/ the young people of our generation is different from the young people of the past, below is a short video that explainns how todays young people especially in the education system is doifferent from the the past mainy because of the internet and social networking sites.
